Kylian Mbappé and Max Verstappen: What Collectors Must Know

This week’s drop, on Thursday March 10th, features top trading cards of two of the most exciting young international athletes.

Kylian Mbappé is one of the best soccer players in the world, already with a World Cup Championship to his name.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen is coming off perhaps the most exciting finish to an F1 season that saw him crowned champion.

Dibbs already features four soccer stars, Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo, Alex Morgan, and Mia Hamm, but the addition of this popular Kylian Mbappé card is a welcome one.

Meanwhile, the first F1 card was added to Dibbs back in December – a 2020 Topps Chrome Formula 1 #1 Lewis Hamilton refractor PSA 10 card.

Both Mbappé and Verstappen are young superstars in their respective sports. Each have already accomplished so much, at such a young age.

Let’s get into why these cards – and athletes – are special.

Since making his professional debut in 2015 at age 16, Mbappé  has continued to take the soccer world by storm. Once seen as an exciting young player with tremendous potential, Mbappé has more than lived up to the hype.

Since his transfer to PSG in 2017, Mbappé has tallied 156 goals in 180 appearances. He has established himself as one of the premier players in the world during this time.

Playing alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar, there are massive expectations for Mbappé and the PSG team as a whole. In the first leg of their Champions League matchup with Real Madrid (the team Mbappé is rumored to possibly go to after this season) Mbappé did this:

With Mbappé's future looking uncertain, the value of a card with Mbappé in a uniform (France National Team) that can't be changed holds greater importance.

Whether Mbappé is back with PSG next season, or finds himself in Spain playing for Real Madrid, the one thing we can be sure of is he'll be scoring goals at an electrifying pace.

Popular Kylian Mbappé card: 2018 Panini World Cup #80 Kylian Mbappé Silver Prizm PSA 10

This 2018 Panini Prizm Mbappé PSA 10 showcases the football star in a shiny silver finish, with his name “Mbappé” in a cyrillic font. The card aesthetics are beautiful, and that’s just half the battle.

This is only Panini’s second World Cup set of cards ever released, and this particular 2018 Panini Prizm set became the go-to for the tournament.

While this is clearly a special set of cards, it is also his World Cup performance that makes this such a popular Kylian Mbappé card.

In his first World Cup, at age 18, Mbappé scored four goals in seven games. He scored two goals vs Argentina in the round of 16, along with a crucial goal vs Croatia in the final.

The 24 year old racing phenom is a welcome addition to the multitude of young superstars already on Dibbs.

He has been around F1 since he was a kid, as his father, Jos Verstappen, was also an F1 driver.

Verstappen is no stranger to record setting success. Debuting at age 17, he became the youngest race winner in F1 history at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix. More recently, he beat out Lewis Hamilton for the 2021 Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship title.

His ability to compete under pressure was on full display, as he beat out Hamilton on the final day of the season in the most dramatic ending to an F1 season in recent history. On the heels of popular Netflix show Drive to Survive, there were more eyeballs on this the 2021 F1 season than ever before.

There's no doubt that this season will be electrifying. The sport has, and continues to take the American public by storm. Last year's finish only brought more eyeballs to a sport that is already growing at a rapid pace.

With Lewis Hamilton back, too, us F1 fans should be in for a treat.

Popular Max Verstappen Card: 2020 Topps Chrome Formula 1 #6 Max Verstappen Refractor PSA 10

This 2020 Topps Chrome F1 Max Verstappen #6 Refractor PSA 10 card is part of Topps’ 2020 F1 release – the first mainstream production of F1 cards.

This specific card is a very popular Max Verstappen card, and also very accessible, with a POP of 119.

The refractor variation is 1 out of 14 parallels from the 2020 Topps set and can only be found in one out of every three packs.

The 2022 season is almost upon us, which begs the question, will the already popular Max Verstappen card gain more momentum?

If you are a fan of Verstappen, you can buy his card here, in just a few clicks, on the Dibbs marketplace.
